Skytrax named Oman Air best business class seats

Oman Air Ranked 4 Star Airline following a recent Skytrax review. In addition, Skytrax has named Oman Air’s Business Class seat as one of the top three business class airline seats in the world.
Oman Air’s new Official 4 Star Airline® ranking signifies that the airline has achieved a good standard of product across all travel categories, with good standards of staff service delivery in both the onboard and airport environments.

The revised ranking follows a period of significant growth and development for the airline, which has seen the introduction of luxurious new Airbus A330 aircraft and the launch of new routes across Europe, the Middle East, East Africa and South and South East Asia.

Oman Air’s inclusion within the top three of Skytrax’s list of the best business class airline seats in the world is a clear demonstration of our emergence as a world-class airline of the very highest quality.

“Oman Air’s fleet of modern, spacious and comfortable aircraft continues to grow, our network includes 40 destinations and will expand further over the course of this year, and our onboard products are outstanding. We offer excellent inflight entertainment, have pioneered inflight mobile phone and broadband connectivity and our menus put many of our competitors in the shade. And on the ground, we have unveiled stunning First Class and Business Class lounges at Muscat International Airport, as well as launched online check-in. These developments, together with many more behind the scenes, have transformed Oman Air and could not have been achieved without the energy and dedication of staff at all levels of the organisation.”
Since the Skytrax Airline Quality Audit of Oman Air was carried out, the airline has made further enhancements to its products and services, including the introduction to its fleet of two Embraer 175 jets, which will operate on regional routes. A further three Embraers will follow, whilst the last of Oman Air’s seven Airbus A330s will be received this year.

Peter Hill concluded:

“The quality of Oman Air’s products and services is now internationally recognised and, over the course of the coming year, we look forward to announcing further new products and services which will add even greater pleasure to the Oman Air passenger experience.”

Copenhagen Airport reduce connection time

Shorter travel time, access to more than 40 additional daily flight connections on SAS, and better facilities for passengers. A new partnership between SAS and CPH is expected to attract more than 200,000 additional transfer passengers per year.
In the course of the year, SAS and CPH will reduce the minimum connection time to 30 minutes for all flights from the so-called Schengen countries.

By reducing the minimum connection time, Copenhagen Airport and SAS will be placed considerably higher on the lists of the attractive search engines and sales systems around the world which identify possible and fast travel itineraries.

With a new strategic partnership, Copenhagen Airports (CPH) and SAS are taking a major step towards making Copenhagen Airport one of the very best transfer airports in the world and the leading international traffic hub in northern Europe.
43 new attractive flight connections via Copenhagen
The initial focus will be on the six airports from which SAS carries the largest number of passengers via Copenhagen to other parts of the world. SAS and CPH have now reduced the minimum connection time from 40 to 30 minutes for passengers flying via Copenhagen to or from Stockholm, Gothenburg, Oslo, Bergen, Stavanger and Helsinki (see example below). This means shorter travel time for passengers because they can connect faster to one of the 43 additional flights per day that will be available as a result of the shorter transfer time. It is expected that the initiative will initially result in up to 50,000 transfer passengers per year.
A better airport for everybody
In addition to becoming more attractive to passengers using Copenhagen Airport as a springboard, the partnership will also have a favourable impact for passengers starting or ending their journeys in Copenhagen. One of the initiatives will be an improvement of the check-in facilities and efficiency improvements in baggage handling. Finally, the partnership will be used to strengthen the collaboration on route development in Copenhagen.

Cimber Sterling flights Copenhagen Antalya Turkey

As the first airline in Denmark, Cimber Sterling has received permission to operate scheduled flights between Denmark and Antalya, Turkey. Copenhagen – Antalya will be a route served all year round with three weekly frequencies.

Until now, it has only been possible to travel from Denmark to Antalya by charter flight, as the Turkish authorities have been very restrictive in allowing scheduled flights to destinations other than Istanbul. The authorities have now changed policy, and Cimber Sterling is the first airline to benefit.

“We’ve spent the past seven months trying to obtain a traffic permit from the Turkish authorities, working closely with the Danish Civil Aviation Administration throughout the process. And last Thursday, we succeeded,” said Signe Thorup, Communications Manager at Cimber Sterling.

Strengthening the hub
The new full-year service will open with the summer timetable on 28 March, and Cimber Sterling will offer three weekly frequencies to Antalya.

“Many people in Denmark either own or rent holiday accommodation in Antalya, and the new service is very good news to them. As there are so few non-stop flights to Antalya, the new service will also help strengthen Copenhagen Airport’s position as a hub,” said Carsten Nørland, VP, Sales, Copenhagen Airports.

Egypt Air new flights from Cairo to Copenhagen

Egypt Air’s new direct flights from Cairo to Copenhagen Airport will be opened in October . Given Egypt Air’s large route network, the new service will provide accessibility not only to all of Egypt, but also to destinations in South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania and the Middle East.

Egypt Air will use a brand new B737-800 with 144 seats on the CPH CAI route. There will be three weekly frequencies on the service, on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, leaving Copenhagen at 3.45 p.m. and leaving Cairo at 10.00 a.m. For more information, go to Egyptair.com.

“Every week, Danish business people travel to Egypt to promote trade and to offer Danish expertise to their business partners in Egypt. And the new route will ensure even better conditions for the already large inflow of Danish tourists,” said Christian Hoppe, the Danish Ambassador in Cairo.

A member of the Star Alliance
Egypt Air is a recent member of the Star Alliance, the world’s largest airline alliance, which will pave the way for valuable collaboration with SAS and thus for increased transfer traffic at Copenhagen Airport.

“The membership of the Star Alliance enhances the network out of Cairo and provides a multitude of connections at our end of the route. It makes the route accessible for tourism and trade and industry beyond the region around Copenhagen and strengthens the airport’s position as a hub. We are pleased that we can in this way help strengthen the position of the Danish Capital Region and Danish trade and industry in general,” said Carsten Nørland, VP, Sales for Copenhagen Airports.

”A gap had appeared in the market as another airline withdrew from the Vienna route, and with twice-daily flights on weekdays and one on Sundays, access to and from Austria is substantially improved. With a morning flight and an evening flight, the schedule is perfect for business travellers, allowing them to travel to Vienna and return on the same day, explained Ole Wieth Christensen, Director of Airline Sales & Route Development at Copenhagen Airport.
