Ditan Folk Festival 2011
The Ditan Folk Festival will return for its third year on Saturday and Sunday from 3 pm to 11 pm. Dong Party is presenting 30 bands, featuring some of the best names in Chinese folk music.
Two days to relax on the grass at Ditan Park and listen to some of the most interesting music being made in China. You will hear music from mountain ballads to Kazakh reggae to Irish folk tunes.

Famous snack street to reopen
Xianyukou Snack Street, in Dongcheng district, is scheduled to reopen on May 8.
With a history of 570 years, the street harbors a long list of time-honored brands selling authentic Beijing food and snacks, such as Bianyifang roast duck, Wuyutai cuisine, Tianxingju chaogan'er, and so on.
During the trial opening period between May 8 and June 1, car parking will be free to customers.

Olivier Roussel duet
The duet, Olivier Roussel and Louis Winsberg, plays modern jazz. Roussel's compositions provide strong interaction between the two musicians.

Jurat Band
The Jurat Band, established by Jurat T.T. from Karamay in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, shapes a new kind of indie rock. Jurat recently worked with English writer and musician Matt Holmes' band Beijing Alchemists, to create a magic folk blues and jazz style.
He also set up the Braves Orchestra in 2002, using ethnic, folk and rock 'n' roll to create his own style.

The Hurts in concert
Winners of the 2011 ECHO and NME Award for Best New Band, Hurts saw their debut album Happiness enter the UK album charts with more than 25,000 sales, making them the UK's fastest-selling new band of 2010. They have now sold more than 300,000 albums worldwide.
With their seemingly unstoppable rise to fame, it should be an exciting time to catch this band live, as they shoot for the stars.

Beijing International Orchestra
The Beijing International Orchestra consists of professional and amateur musicians from various countries. The repertoire spans orchestra and chamber music from baroque, classic, romantic, contemporary, film music, Chinese compositions and salon music.
The orchestra was founded as a non-profit community activity by the German expatriate manager and amateur violinist Stephan Brandel and is conducted by Leo Zou.

Weekend cooking class
Set in an attractive courtyard, the Hutong is an informal cooking school with classes from regional Chinese cuisine to pizza making and Pakistani curries.
It also offers a variety of meetings, clubs and workshops focused on intercultural friendship and learning.
